Wiggle Wag Giggle Ball Overview

Brand new Wobble Wag Giggle Ball in the packaging

At a glance, this toy is honestly one of the best-constructed and best-planned dog toys I’ve seen. It’s heavy-duty and thoughtfully-assembled – you can tell they were “thinking like a dog” when designing this one!

Design and materials

The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is carefully crafted to attract your dog’s attention and withstand hours of play. Made from a flexible, durable, and pet-safe phthalate-free vinyl material, the ball is designed to last even with the most enthusiastic of dogs.

It comes in one standard size, approximately 5.5 inches in diameter, making it suitable for small, medium, and large dog breeds. I will say the toy is bigger than we were expecting – it’s just a little smaller than our Golden’s head!

Although the color options are limited, the bright green and blue hues are sure to catch your dog’s eye. The glow in the dark option is a nice touch as well.

Features

The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball boasts a range of features that set it apart from your average dog toy:

  1. Noisemaking mechanism: What makes the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball truly special is the built-in giggle mechanism. As the ball rolls and wobbles, it emits amusing giggle sounds that intrigue and delight your dog. The best part? No batteries are required!
  2. Wobbling and rolling motion: The ball’s unique design features six clutches that allow it to wobble and roll in a variety of unpredictable directions. This erratic movement keeps your dog engaged and entertained, as they never know where the ball will go next.
  3. Built-in handle design: The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is not only fun to play with but also easy for your dog to carry around. Its six clutch pockets double as handles, making it convenient for your dog to grab, carry, and shake.

Next up, we’ll explore the benefits of using the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball as a part of your dog’s playtime routine.

Benefits of the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball

The toy offers numerous advantages for both you and your dog, making it an excellent addition to your dog’s toy collection:

Mental stimulation

One of the most significant benefits of the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is the mental stimulation it provides. The ball’s unpredictable movements and intriguing giggle sounds pique your dog’s curiosity, encouraging them to think, strategize, and engage their natural hunting instincts.

Our Golden Luna bats this thing around like there’s no tomorrow, which has the added benefit of us seeing her do that adorable hunting pounce Goldens often do.

Physical exercise

As your dog chases, pounces, and plays with the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball, they’ll be getting a good dose of physical exercise. This helps to burn off excess energy, maintain a healthy weight, and promote overall well-being. Plus, a tired dog is a happy and well-behaved dog!

Independent play

With its unique design and engaging features, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is perfect for independent play. This means your dog can enjoy hours of entertainment, even when you’re not around. It’s an excellent solution for keeping your dog occupied while you’re busy. We do not recommend leaving your dog alone with this toy, or any other toy, if you’re actually leaving the house.

Reducing separation anxiety and boredom

By providing mental and physical stimulation, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball helps to alleviate boredom and separation anxiety. When dogs are left alone or lack sufficient stimulation, they can become anxious, leading to unwanted behaviors such as destructive chewing or excessive barking. The Wobble Wag’s captivating features help to keep your dog’s mind and body active, reducing the risk of these issues.

We do not recommend leaving your dog alone with this – or any – toy if you’re actually leaving the house for the day, but we’ll often leave Luna with this one if we’re just outside doing yardwork or have her gated in the kitchen while we’re cleaning.

Usage Tips and Recommendations

To help you and your dog get the most out of the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball, here are some practical tips and recommendations:

Introducing the toy to your dog

When first introducing the Giggle Ball to your dog, make sure to do so in a calm and controlled environment. Allow your dog to sniff and explore the toy, encouraging their interaction with it. You can even roll or wobble the ball yourself to demonstrate how it works and generate excitement.

Luna was quite shocked the first time we rolled our original ball and it giggled, and it took her a few minutes to warm up to it – she was cautiously circling and sniffing it until then.

Establishing playtime routines

To keep the Wobble Wag exciting and engaging, consider establishing regular playtime routines. For example, you could designate specific times of the day for playing with the ball or use it as a reward for good behavior. Just be mindful not to overuse the toy, as dogs may lose interest if it’s constantly available.

On the flip side, this isn’t a bad toy to specifically leave constantly available. While Luna does lose interest in most toys we give her at some point, she really hasn’t let this one collect much dust in the past 6 months of us owning it.

Ensuring your dog’s safety

While the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is made from durable materials, it’s essential to supervise your dog during playtime, especially if they’re an aggressive chewer. Regularly inspect the ball for any signs of wear or damage and replace it as needed to prevent the risk of injury.

Cleaning and maintenance

Keeping the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball clean is crucial for your dog’s health and the toy’s longevity. You can easily clean the ball with warm water and mild soap, making sure to rinse it thoroughly before letting it air dry. Regular cleaning helps to remove dirt, debris, and potential bacteria buildup.

Wobble Wag Pros and Cons

You can see how the clutches work here, with Luna easily able to grab and hold the ball

Like any product, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball has its advantages and disadvantages. Here’s a breakdown to help you make an informed decision:

Pros

  1. Engaging and entertaining: The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball’s unique combination of wobbling motion, giggle sounds, and bright colors make it a highly engaging and entertaining toy for dogs of all ages and sizes.
  2. Durable construction: Made from pet-safe and durable vinyl material, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is built to withstand rough play, ensuring a long-lasting toy for your furry friend.
  3. Suitable for various dog breeds and sizes: With its one-size-fits-all design, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is suitable for small, medium, and large dog breeds.
  4. Easy to take away from your pup: If need be, it’s not hard to grab this one from your dog because of how big it is, and because of how easy it is for humans to grip too, due to the indentations around the ball.

Cons

The sound is definitely abrasive at first – this is not a quiet dog toy!
  1. Noisiness: The giggle sounds emitted by the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball can be entertaining for your dog, but they might become annoying for some pet owners, especially during extended play sessions. You can watch the vid above for an example of what the ball sounds like:
  2. May not be suitable for aggressive chewers: While the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is designed for durability, aggressive chewers may still damage the toy. It’s crucial to monitor your dog during play and replace the ball if signs of wear or damage appear.
  3. Limited color options: The original Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is only available in 2 color combinations – green with blue accents, and glow in the dark. There is also a “treat dispenser” version of the toy that’s primarily blue. While the colors are bright and eye-catching, some pet owners might prefer more variety.
  4. Weight: This is a rather heavy toy, and if your dog is anything like our Golden they’ll enjoy dropping it loudly on the floor or even down the stairs. If you have pristine floors that you’re worried about scratching up or denting, this may not be the toy for you.

Our Experience With The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball

Luna figuring out her second, brand new Giggle Ball

We’re now on our second Wobble Wag. We got the first one after seeing it posted in a Facebook Golden Retriever group with a lot of people recommending it. The first one lasted a whopping 6 months, which is unheard of in our household. Luna is a very heavy chewer, and toys usually last hours.

Here’s a picture of our original Giggle Ball and why we had to replace it:

Sometimes, the squeaker tubes that make the giggle sound can get pushed in and knocked out of place by your pup, leaving an empty hole in the shell. We usually caught this early, and it’s pretty easy to get your finger in there and move them back into place.

Well, we missed it once time, and Luna used that hole to absolutely destroy the ball inside of half an hour when she realized there was “something” inside of it. The giggle tubes themselves are very durable and do not easily come apart, so she wasn’t able to get into them and accidentally swallow any little pieces or anything like that (which was much appreciated). We noticed soon after, took it all away from her and threw it out (shame on us for not paying slightly better attention!).

Some people may tell you that sort of toy design can be dangerous for your dog, and they’re not wrong. That being said, there’s not really such a thing as a 100% safe dog toy, and we had no qualms about buying a second one for Luna since she loves it so much. The key here is simply keeping an eye on your pup while they’re playing with it (which you always should be doing anyway).

We’ve found it to be a thoroughly engaging, heavy-duty, and Golden Retriever-approved dog toy, and we’re hoping to get another 5+ months out of the second one! If your pup’s a heavy chewer like ours is, this is far and away the best bang for our buck we’ve gotten out of a single dog toy.

Other opinions

You can also take a look at some other online reviews to see what other people think. Overall, this is one of the most-sold and most-reviewed dog toys I’ve ever seen.

It has resoundingly positive reviews across the board, with most negative reviews coming down to chew-happy dogs biting through the vinyl faster than anticipated, or because people couldn’t deal with the sound the toy makes.

Comparisons with similar products

Nothing really stands out to me here – there are a few clear knockoffs at this point, but the toy is definitely in a class of its own as far as unique value goes.

The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball: Should You Buy It?

I can confidently say that this interactive dog toy is an excellent choice for pet parents looking to keep their dogs entertained, stimulated, and active.

The unique design, captivating wobble motion, and engaging giggle sounds make it an ideal toy for dogs of all sizes and breeds. Its benefits, like promoting mental stimulation, physical exercise, and independent play, significantly contribute to your dog’s overall well-being. We really couldn’t be happier with this toy, and Luna wholeheartedly agrees!

However, it’s essential to consider the potential drawbacks, such as the noisiness and the need for supervision with aggressive chewers. As long as you’re willing to monitor your dog’s play and maintain the toy properly, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball can be an exciting and enriching addition to your dog’s toy collection.

The Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is a fun, engaging, and valuable toy that can enhance your dog’s playtime experience while promoting their physical and mental health. I highly recommend giving this unique toy a try and witnessing firsthand the joy it can bring to your pup!
