Do not like posting negative reviews, but hope to spare another family from what we’ve been through. Agree with other reviewers, something must have changed over the years, in their breeding practice. Our vet can’t believe he is from a “reputable breeder”. Heidi came HIGHLY recommended, from a known local breeder that did not have a pup when we were looking. We paid ALOT, and drove from MI to get our pup. It’s been non-stop chronic health issues and expense. He came home sick and loaded with worms and Giardia that permanently damaged his GI tract. He is on Metronidazole daily, for life (every time vet tapers dose….he is symptomatic within 24 hours). He has joint issues, Ichthyosis AND terrible skin allergies requiring maintenance meds AND twice weekly medicated baths. Chronic ear infections, requires special diet….the list goes on and on and on….He is only 4 now , we love him DEARLY, but the money and time spent in trying to maintain his health these past 4 years is a huge on-going strain. We also know he likely won’t have a long lifespan ; that sadness looms heavy in our hearts. It’s a real shame. He has a beautiful temperament , it’s sad how uncomfortable he is much of the time.

I have gotten 3 goldens from this breeder and I have had issues with every one. My first golden had cancer 3 times, needing surgery three different times throughout his life. My second one just turned 5 and he has had hip dysplasia since he was 3, extremely young for this breed. My third, who is not even a year and a half, has had four separate surgeries attempting to repair issues with his elbows/knees. He is also scheduled for a fifth surgery, which has been rescheduled two times because his last surgery hasn’t healed correctly. Keep in mind that he is only ONE!!! I would never recommend this breeder to anyone because they have over bred these dogs like crazy. They are beautiful dogs, but they need to keep the bad DNA out of the bloodline!!!
