Mervar Kennel is highly recommended for their sweet and beautiful dogs. The breeder, Judy, takes pride in providing a loving environment and even built a special room for the puppies.
Customers have had their schnauzers and golden retrievers from this breeder for many years and mention that the dogs are in excellent shape and have wonderful temperaments. The groomers and veterinarians also admire the dogs from this kennel.
However, there was one negative review about a phone call experience where the breeder was rude and unprofessional. Additionally, there was a complaint about a genetic disease being passed on from one of the male dogs used for breeding, and the breeder's response was concerning to the customer.
Overall, Mervar Kennel seems to have positive reviews with a few areas of concern highlighted by customers.

I have a miniature schnauzer and a golden retriever, and they both are beautiful dogs and have been alive for 12&6 years. Both dogs are still in excellent shape and the schnauzer still acts like a puppy. I would highly recommend this breeder to anyone who is looking for a pup

Our sweet schnauzers came from Mervar Kennel and we couldn’t ask for better dogs. Judy takes lots of care and pride with her dogs and provides them with a loving environment. She even built an additional “puppy” room to keep them comfortable. I highly recommend dogs from Mervar Kennel.

Over the years I have gotten 2 white schanzer’s and last one is a dark salt/pepper. They’re are Beautiful pups, Gorgeous Fur coats and Wonderful Temperaments. My Groomers and Veterinarian adore my pups. I have 3 Schnauzers. We moved 2 years ago if I were to get another pup I would make the 500 mile trip to get another one of her pups!!!

Called and said I’d like to come meet the dogs to see if goldens were the right breed for me. Lady was yelling at the dogs the whole time I was on the phone with her and asked to call me back because it was feeding time. Hours later I called her back and she said I couldn’t come see the dogs because I might give them a disease because they’re not all vaccinated. I asked if she had planned on every calling me back to tell me as I had been waiting to hear from her, and she said “she never told me when she would call me back.” Very rude and unprofessional.

Nothing positive. Extreamly dirty, could not wait to get puppy home to bathe. Breeder negotiated like Hitler! Beware.

We purcahse a Golden Retriever in May of 2016. Two months ago we found out that our dog, as well as one other dog, from the same male had the genetic disease Masticatory Muscle Myositis (MMM). This is a heredity disease that is passed from the male or female. Give the two dogs were from different litters but shared the same male the assumption is the male has the gene ansd is passing it on.
The other owner reached out to the breeder and they were sorry but felt that the root cuase of this disease was enviroment. Given that owner has another Golden from this breed that is fine I find thier reply suspect.
The breeder also admits they are still breeding with this male. Thus, there is a chance one will pay the high cost for a dog that needs to be on prednisone for life.
Very disappointed that this breeder is more interested in making money than what is best for the breed.
Very sad…
