JEFFCO KENNELS (Livingston, Louisiana)

I have 2 beautiful beagle from Jeffco. Very nice people!

On July 4th of last year I made an impromptu decision to find a breeder for a black labrador retriever after getting a text from my partner, who was out of town, that included an image of one enjoying fly fishing with him. After receiving the information about Jeffco Kennels, I immediately called and was happily surprised to be able to get in contact with these sweet individuals despite it being a holiday. Needless to say, a three-hour commute that same day was made to pick up the most coveted member of our family.

Upon arriving, I was excited to see the dogs and meet the owners of the company. Mr. Jeff and Mrs. Lisa are two of the greatest, genuine, and kindhearted people I have ever met. They truly have the most caring personalities, which their labs and beagles exemplify as well. I couldn’t have had a better experience than with them.

Maverick Vice was eight-weeks old whenever we adopted him. He’s one of the puppies from Red Angie and Moses. Though I’m completely biased, he’s honestly the best dog. He understood the “sit” command and was easily house trained–first by using a bell attached to the door for him to ring to go outside, which has now developed into him just sitting patiently until he has access to the backyard. He was enrolled in training, not due to any issues that we were having, and he finished the six-week obedience program in under a month. He’s intelligent beyond belief, extremely empathetic, and lovingly loyal. He follows me around like a little shadow and lays down wherever I end up. I would be completely lost without him.

Mav currently spends his days going to the office, where his calm demeanor has been complimented on by everyone. There hasn’t been a single person that doesn’t acknowledge how good of a boy he is on a daily basis. He takes a snooze on his bed or underneath the desk at Josh’s feet, perfectly content. How many people can say that their dog, who is still under the age of one, does that?! He very rarely barks, hasn’t damaged any furniture/wood, and walks without a leash. He’s perfect in every way.

If he’s not at the office, Maverick is socializing at daycare with his doggie friends or is with his “grandparents.” The staff at the boarding facility he attends and the wonderful nurses at the veterinary clinic rave about him. And, of course, my parents are always thrilled to play with their “granddog.” He’s a social butterfly and strives to please constantly. A “good boy!” with a pet on the head is all it takes for him to feel rewarded and happy. He’s an affectionate baby who loves us unconditionally.

I could write an entire essay about all of Maverick’s amazing qualities, but I think that the character count would cut me off at some point. Therefore, since pictures are worth a thousand words, I’ve included photos of him below.

The best breeder around for labs and beagles! We got a beagle and a black lab. They are so smart and sweet! The lab was especially well behaved from the start. She doesn’t jump on people and learns quickly. I highly recommend these wonderful people and dogs.
